Choosing your childcarer: some pointers

 

 

When looking for the perfect 'Mary Poppins' or 'Nanny Mcfee'  here are some pointers you should look for:

 

• OFSTED REGISTRATION

Is a good indicator that your child carer will be of a high standard as Ofsted are the UK's governing body on childcare standards. You will also recieve tax  relief  with an Ofsted registered nanny

 

• DBS CHECK CERTIFICATE

This is very important as it shows if the person who is going into your home has any criminal record. This is now a LEGAL requirement when working with children.

 

• PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID

Should your child have an accident and needs urgent attention, then a trained child carer will know what to do,

 

• CHECKABLE REFERENCES

These don’t have to be recent, so long as you can STILL contact a previous employer or a personal referee to confirm you are indeed a person of good character,and can perform your duties.

 

• EXPERIENCE

A very valuable asset when choosing your childcarer. You require someone who understands children and their needs

 

• INSURANCE

An added bonus. This is a reassurance that should there be an accident involving someone else, your child carer is covered for any ensuing costs

 

• QUALIFICATIONS

A good signal that the person has some knowledge of how to care for your child in all situations.and not just blagging it.

 

 

Also when  you see the potential child carer face to face, see if they interact with your child and don’t be shy to ask as many questions as you feel necessary. The person you choose will be in charge of the most precious thing in your life...
